Scottsdale has a wild side, too! Discover a far North Scottsdale sanctuary rescuing Arizona’s native wildlife and offering unique ways to meet its wild residents.
Southwest Wildlife
Meet Your Wild Neighbors: At the far north end of Scottsdale, the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center gives Arizona’s native wildlife a second chance. Located near 156th Street and Dynamite Road, the center rescues injured, orphaned and displaced wild mammals, with rehabilitation and release back into the wild as the primary goal. Visitors can hear their rescue stories on daytime Walk With Wildlife, Twilight and Full Moon tours, each lasting up to two hours.
Felix and brothers Dash & Echo; some of the most adorable SWCC residents.
Wild beginnings: SWCC is a nonprofit that began when founder Linda Searles rescued an orphaned coyote named Don, inspiring her to establish the sanctuary in 1994. Public tours are limited to 30 participants, with a waitlist for fully booked sessions. Call the education department at (480) 471-3621 or email at education@southwestwildlife.org to inquire about booking a private tour of the sanctuary. Advanceregistration is required for all tours.
Southwest Wildlife also hosts special events throughout the year, including Stewards of the Wild, a benefit gala on Oct. 30, 2026, and Sip & Paint with Wildlife on Nov. 6, featuring wine, light bites and wildlife-inspired painting.
